| ARCO modified bitumen membranes are multi-layer membranes, composed of : |
1. waterproofing compound , composed of distiled bitumen and APP polymers or SBS (Styrene Butadiene Styrene) elastomers.
Due to the different type of bituminous mixture and also to the reinforcement, the waterproofing membranes offers different properties of mechanical resistance, elasticity, cold flexibility and durability. |

2. the reinforcement, situated at 2/3 from the bottom and 1/3 from the top of the membrane, is composed of thermally stabilized woven non woven polyester fabric or glassfibre mat.
Membranes reinforced with woven non woven polyester fabric offers a very good static and dynamic puncture resistance, tensile strength, a good longitudinal and transversal tensile strength and big ultimate elongation. |
| 3. polyethylene burn-off film, for the protection of the lower face. The film melts during torching. The correct application temperature is visible from the lightly embossed surface of the membrane, which is below the burn-off film. When the correct application temperature is reached, this embossment melts also helping vapour diffusion and avoiding blistering. |
| 4. mineral slate chips, for the protection of the upper face against UVA and UVB rays. These membranes (with mineral slate) are used as final layer. Enhances in the same time the aestetichs after application. |
| 5. sand, talc or non woven polypropylene mat (TNT) on the upper face of the intermediary membranes, used in waterproofing systems two or multi- layer or underground waterproofing. |

V = fibreglass reinforcement with longitudinal reinforcing threads
A = mineral slate
SBS : Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene – confers membrane elasticity properties and flexibility at low temperatures
APP : Atactic Polypropylene – confers membrane plastic properties and a very good mechanical resistance
A 10 cm side selvedge and a 15 cm end lap selvedge is provided to allow easy alignment of the membrane during application. |
